This registry hack will allow you to disable autostart of annoying windows messenger
if you are using windows xp.I will detail it in steps.
1.Go to run from the start menu.
2.Type 'gpedit.msc'.Group policy editor opens.
3.Click user configuration>Administrative templates>windows components>windows messenger
4.You will see 'Do not automatically start windows messenger initially' in the right box.Right click on it.
5.Click properties.
6.Click enable.Then ok.
Windows messenger will never annoy you again.

OMG! You do not know how long this stupid thing has been bugging me for! I wanted to uninstall it but it doesn't show up on my list of programs and I am sick of people getting annoyed because I won't answer them when I don't want to be logged in because I am busy with other stuff. Thank you so much!
